Holding Still Exhibition 2019
Is an exhibition that explores our gendered collective knowledge about how we navigate the landscape. The stewardship patterns learned from past generations while remaining still are then transmitted to the next generation in a transformed and new way to the point that in several generations whole new ecological systems exist. This group exhibition explores how female photographers negotiate their own relationship to the land based on their genrered value systems. Male landscape photography often involves the "hero syndrome", defyng nature, conquering top of mountains to access power relationships with nature. This exhibition addresses the intimate relationship with nature prevalent in landscape photography often by female photographers.
